Kirkcaldy Harbour is positioned on the North side of the Firth of the Forth and can accommodate standard general cargo coaster vessels. In 2011, following a 20 year gap, the tidal harbour re-opened for commercial business and to serve the local flour mill, Hutchisons Flour - part of the Carrs Milling Group. The mill has a high capacity silo intake facility directly adjacent to the quayside. With the increasing demand for imported wheat, the mill is reaping the benefits of its close quayside location and its new state-of-the-art mill, situated alongside its existing facility, is set to open later in 2013. Kirkcaldy Harbour can handle grains and cereals, timber, aggregate and other bulk commodities.
